Diagnosis
The most common cause is a clogged or dirty acoustic mesh, especially if it's placed in a kitchen or dusty area. Grease and dust block the tweeters.
How to Fix It
Clean the mesh immediately. Use a slightly damp, lint-free microfiber cloth. Gently wipe the entire fabric surface in a circular motion. Do not use any chemicals, sprays, or compressed air. Let it dry completely before powering on.
If That Didn't Work
Check the audio settings in the Home app. Select the HomePod, tap the gear icon, and ensure "Reduce Loud Sounds" and any EQ adjustments are off. Also, try disabling "Sound Check" to see if it improves clarity.
Heads Up
The fabric is water-resistant, but the internal components are not. Never submerge it or get it soaking wet. If liquid was spilled on top, unplug it immediately and let it dry for days before trying again.
