DIAGNOSIS A power surge or irregular shutdown can cause the control board to lock up. The blank or dash display is a sign it's frozen in an error state.
FIX You need to perform a full hard reset. 1) Press and hold the Power button for 10 seconds (even though the display is off). 2) Unplug the machine from the wall outlet. 3) Wait at least 5 minutes. This allows any residual power in the capacitors to drain and the board to fully clear. 4) While it's unplugged, also empty and re-seat the water reservoir and ice basket. 5) Plug the machine directly into a wall outlet (not a power strip), and press the Power button. It should boot up normally.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK If the dash remains, the control board might have been damaged by the surge. Try the reset process one more time, waiting a full 30 minutes unplugged. If it still fails, the unit likely needs professional repair.
HEADS UP For future protection, plug your ice maker into a surge protector. These machines have sensitive electronics that don't handle voltage spikes well.
