DIAGNOSIS The infrared sensor that detects when the basket is full is either blocked, dirty, or malfunctioning. It's located inside the unit, pointing down into the basket area.
FIX 1) Unplug the machine. 2) Remove the ice basket. 3) Look up into the compartment where the ice falls. You'll see a small plastic lens on one side (the emitter) and a receiver on the opposite side. Wipe both lenses carefully with a soft, dry cloth. Dust or ice chips can block the beam. 4) Also, make sure your ice basket is the original one and that nothing (like a sticker or tall ice) is blocking the sensor path. Plug it back in and test.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK The sensor might be misaligned. Gently press on the plastic housing around the sensor windows to see if anything feels loose. If the problem continues, the sensor circuit may be faulty, which requires a service check.
HEADS UP Don't use a wet cloth to clean the sensor lenses, as water residue can cause more issues. Also, avoid using aftermarket baskets or overfilling the basket past the 'Max' line, as this can confuse the system.
