after washing the food processor work bowl, a little water got in the center where the drive goes, now it's squeaky

— asked by Sam

Quick answer: DIAGNOS Water has infiltrated the drive shaft bearing in the center of the work bowl base. This can cause corrosion and a high-pitched squeal during operation.

DIAGNOS Water has infiltrated the drive shaft bearing in the center of the work bowl base. This can cause corrosion and a high-pitched squeal during operation.

How to Fix It

Dry it immediately. Turn the work bowl upside down and let it air dry in a warm place for at least 48 hours. You can use a can of compressed air to blow moisture out of the drive shaft hole. Do not use heat like a hairdryer, it can warp the plastic.

If That Didn't Work

The bearing may already be corroded. The squeak will persist. The work bowl base (the part the bowl locks onto) is a single unit. You'll need to replace the entire work bowl base assembly.

Heads Up

Never immerse the work bowl base (the part with the motor connection) in water. Only the clear plastic bowl and lid are dishwasher safe. Wipe the base with a damp cloth.
