Diagnosis
Compatibility is mechanical and electronic. Generic heads physically fit but may not perform correctly.
How to Fix It
You can use them, but with performance caveats. The 4100's motor is calibrated for genuine Philips heads with specific weight and bristle patterns. Generic heads may cause:
- Increased vibration and noise.
- Reduced cleaning efficiency.
- Faster battery drain.
- They will not damage the motor, but performance is not guaranteed.
If That Didn't Work
If a generic head causes extreme noise or the brush seems sluggish, revert to a genuine Philips head. This confirms the generic head was out of specification.
Heads Up
The brush has no electronic lock-out for non-OEM heads. The replacement brush head reminder timer (every 3 months) is not based on RFID; it is a simple usage timer that resets with any brush head attachment.
