Yes, it's designed for basic felling. Safety is about technique, not just power. Follow the notch and backcut method.
Felling Cut Sequence:
- Notch: Make top cut first. Choose felling direction. Cut 1/3 into tree at 70-degree angle.
- Notch: Make undercut. Cut horizontally to meet top cut. Remove wedge.
- Backcut: Make on opposite side, 2 inches above notch hinge. Do not cut through hinge. Leave 1/10 tree diameter uncut.
- Retreat: Stop saw before tree falls. Use planned retreat path at 45-degree angle from felling direction.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK: If the tree sits back or binds the saw, do not force it. Use a plastic or wooden wedge in the backcut to prevent pinching. Never use metal.
HEADS UP: Your body must always be to the left of the chain line. Never stand directly behind the saw. Wear eye protection, hearing protection, gloves, non-slip boots, and a hard hat. If unsure, hire a professional.
