ego power+ cs1804 chain isn't getting any oil, bar is smoking. how do i check the oiler?

— asked by Jenna

First, check the oil level. The tank is empty or the chain is installed wrong.

  • Immediate check: Look at the oil-inspection window. The oil must be above the minimum mark.
  • Fill it: Unscrew the oil-tank cap and fill with approved bar and chain oil. Capacity is 200 ml.
  • Chain direction: The chain must be installed correctly. The directional arrows on the saw chain must correspond to the arrow on the power head. A backwards chain won't oil properly.
  • Lubricating hole: Ensure the hole in the guide bar near the power head is clear and aligned.

IF THAT DIDN'T WORK: Run the saw for a minute without cutting, pointing the guide bar tip at a piece of cardboard or bare ground. You should see a line of oil fling off. If not, the internal oil pump may be faulty.

HEADS UP: Never run the saw without bar oil. It destroys the chain and guide bar in seconds and creates a major fire risk from the friction heat.
