can my honeywell hpa300 handle smoke from cooking in a large kitchen?

— asked by Casey

Yes. The HPA300 is designed for extra-large rooms up to 465 square feet and captures smoke particles.

Procedure for smoke:

  1. Place the purifier on a firm, level surface near, but not directly above, the cooking area.
  2. Press the ON-OFF button.
  3. Slide the SPEED selector bar to Turbo. This is the highest of the 3 air cleaning levels and provides maximum particle capture rate for situations like smoke.
  4. Run it on Turbo during and after cooking to clear the air.

If that didn't work, and smoke odors persist, check the filter status. A saturated True HEPA filter cannot capture new odors effectively. The pre-filter helps capture larger particles like some cooking grease, which should be rinsed regularly.

Heads up: The True HEPA filtration captures 99.97% of airborne particles as small as 0.3 microns, which includes smoke. It is not a substitute for proper kitchen ventilation from a range hood.
