No. A cracked stoneware insert is not safe for cooking and must be replaced.
- Stop using it immediately. Cracks can harbor bacteria and may worsen, causing the insert to shatter.
- Contact Crock-Pot customer service for a replacement stoneware liner. The model number is usually on the bottom of the base.
- Do not use the metal base without the correct stoneware insert.
To prevent future cracks:
- Avoid extreme temperature changes. Never place a hot stoneware insert on a cold, wet counter or in cold water.
- Let it cool completely before washing.
- Do not use the stoneware on a stovetop or under a broiler unless specifically stated as safe for your model (most Cook & Carry models are not).
