Once the cooking cycle is complete and the unit automatically switches to the "Keep Warm" mode, the display begins counting upwards. The blinking light serves as a notification that the unit is actively maintaining a food-safe temperature (approximately 145°F to 170°F) to prevent the contents from entering the "danger zone" where bacteria grow. This behavior is triggered by the internal logic board once the pressure sensor detects a drop in internal PSI and the timer hits zero. You can confirm the unit is functioning correctly by observing the display; you will see the numbers incrementing (e.g., 0:01, 0:02) while the light flashes. If the light were solid and the timer was not moving, or if the display showed a specific alphanumeric code like "C6" or "Ov", you would be dealing with a sensor malfunction or an overheat condition. In this specific case, the blinking is a standard operational feature of the Duo series.
How to Fix It
Since this is a standard feature and not a malfunction, the "fix" is simply to properly transition the unit from the warming phase to the off state. Follow these steps to ensure the unit is shut down correctly and the heating element is deactivated:
- Wait until you have completed the pressure release process. Ensure the float valve (the small silver pin) has dropped completely before attempting to open the lid.
- Press the "Cancel" button once. This will immediately stop the Keep Warm cycle and stop the blinking light.
- Wait for the display to clear or show the default time.
- Unplug the power cord from the 120V AC outlet. Because the Duo 7-in-1 does not have a physical "hard" off switch, unplugging it is the only way to ensure the heating element is completely disconnected from power.
- If you intend to leave the food in the pot for a few hours, simply leave the light blinking; it will continue to warm the food for up to 10 hours before automatically shutting off.
If That Didn't Work
If the light continues to blink even after pressing Cancel, or if the unit will not turn off, try these advanced troubleshooting steps:
- Perform a Hard Reset: Unplug the unit from the wall outlet for at least 10 full minutes. This allows the capacitors on the control board to discharge completely, clearing any temporary logic glitches that might keep the Keep Warm light active.
- Check for "Burn" Overlap: If the light is blinking and the display shows "burn," the unit has tripped the overheat protection. You must vent the pressure, open the lid, scrape the bottom of the inner pot to remove scorched food, add a splash of liquid, and restart the process.
- Inspect the Thermal Fuse: If the unit is completely unresponsive (no display, no blinking) after the Keep Warm cycle, the thermal fuse may have blown. This usually happens if the pot was run without liquid. This requires a teardown of the base to replace the fuse with a matching 10A/125V thermal component.
- Test a Different Outlet: In rare cases, a faulty GFCI outlet can cause flickering in the LED indicators. Plug the Duo into a different circuit to see if the blinking pattern stabilizes or disappears upon pressing Cancel.

- Never force the lid open while the Keep Warm light is blinking if the float valve is still up; the blinking light indicates the cycle is over, but it does not guarantee the pressure has been fully released.
