DIAGNOSIS Rainbow or bronze-colored stains on the stainless steel pot are heat tint. This is a thin oxide layer caused by high heat, often from sautéing or the ‘Yogurt’ function. It is not harmful.
FIX 1. Create a paste of baking soda and water or vinegar. 2. Apply a thick layer to the stained area. 3. Let it sit for 15-20 minutes. 4. Scrub gently with a non-abrasive sponge or cloth. 5. Rinse thoroughly. For persistent stains: 6. Fill the pot with 1 cup of white vinegar and 2 cups of water. 7. Use the ‘Manual’ setting for 5 minutes. 8. Quick release, cool, and scrub.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK Use a specialized stainless steel cleaner like Bar Keepers Friend. Apply, let sit per instructions, then scrub with the grain of the steel. Rinse extremely well before cooking.
