ecobee premium temperature is wrong, it says 72 but my room feels way colder. how do i fix the sensor reading?

— asked by Chris

The thermostat sensor has a variance of +/- 1°F. A larger discrepancy requires manual correction.

Fix: Apply a Temperature Correction offset.

  1. Navigate to MAIN MENU > SETTINGS > INSTALLATION SETTINGS > THRESHOLDS > TEMPERATURE CORRECTION.
  2. Adjust the offset by +/- 10°F to match a trusted thermometer's reading.

Critical Validation Step: Before adjusting, check which sensors are active. Go to MAIN MENU > SETTINGS > SENSORS. If SmartSensors are paired, the displayed temperature is an average of all participating sensors. Compare the thermostat sensor reading alone to your trusted device.

IF THAT DIDN'T WORK: The wall cavity behind the thermostat may be influencing the sensor. Ensure the hole where the wires enter the wall is completely sealed with plumber's putty to block drafts.
