genie silentmax connect 7155 won't connect to my wifi during setup, the app just fails.

DIAGNOSIS: Most common cause is a 5GHz network conflict. The Genie Connect module only supports 2.4GHz Wi-Fi. Phones often auto-connect to 5GHz.

FIX: Go to your phone's Wi-Fi settings. Temporarily disable the 5GHz band on your router, or move your phone and opener far enough from the router that it drops to 2.4GHz. Ensure your network uses WPA2 security (not WPA3). Run the setup in the Aladdin Connect app again with the phone close to the motor unit.

IF THAT DIDN'T WORK: The Connect module inside the motor unit head may have a failed connection. Power cycle the entire opener at the breaker for 30 seconds. Also, press the pinhole reset button on the side of the Connect module for 10 seconds to factory reset its network settings.

HEADS UP: The opener and your router must be on the same network subnet. Guest networks or 'IoT isolation' features will block the connection. Disable them for setup.
