DIAGNOSIS ERL = RTD (temperature probe) failure. The controller isn't getting a proper resistance reading from the probe in the cooking chamber.
FIX Check the RTD probe connection first.
- Turn grill OFF and unplug it. Let it cool.
- Open the control panel (two screws on the front).
- Locate the RTD probe wire connector (a white plastic plug) on the controller board and ensure it's fully seated.
- Unplug it, inspect for corrosion or bent pins, and firmly reconnect it.
- Plug grill back in and power on. If ERL is gone, you're set.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK The RTD probe itself is likely faulty and needs replacement. It's a standard part. Order a new RTD probe for the Woodwind, disconnect the old one at the controller, thread the new one through the same grommet in the back of the grill, and reconnect.
HEADS UP Never spray the RTD probe with grill cleaner or submerge it. Wipe it gently with a damp cloth. Physical damage or heavy grease/carbon buildup can cause false readings.
