DIAGNOSIS Low gas pressure or a clogged burner tube orifice on the Sidekick propane attachment.
FIX Clean the burner orifice and check gas flow.
- Turn OFF the gas at the propane tank and disconnect it.
- Remove the Sidekick grates and the flavorizer bars to access the burner.
- Locate the small brass orifice where gas enters the burner tube. Use a dedicated orifice cleaning tool or a stiff bristle from a wire brush to gently clear any debris (spider webs, grease). Do NOT enlarge the hole.
- Reconnect the propane tank, open the valve slowly, and perform a leak check with soapy water at connections before igniting.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK You may have a faulty or undersized propane regulator, or the tank is near empty. Try a different, full propane tank. Ensure you're using a standard 20 lb tank, not a small camping cylinder without the proper adapter and regulator.
HEADS UP The control knob must be pushed in and turned to the high setting for maximum output. If it feels loose or doesn't click, the valve assembly may be faulty. Also, wind can significantly impact performance on low settings.
