how do i change the blade on my honda hrn216vka? is it hard to do?

It's a straightforward job if you have the right tools and follow safety steps. You'll need a 14 mm (6-point) socket wrench and a torque wrench.

  1. Turn the fuel valve OFF.
  2. Disconnect the spark plug cap from the spark plug.
  3. Tilt the mower onto its right side (fuel cap side up) to prevent fuel leaks and carburetor flooding.
  4. Wear thick leather gloves and hold the blade to keep it from turning. Remove the two blade bolts with your socket wrench.
  5. Clean the mounting area. Install the new or sharpened blades using the two blade bolts and two special washers.
  6. Hold the blade with your gloved hand and tighten the bolts with a torque wrench to 36–43 ft-lb (49–59 N·m).

If you don't have a torque wrench, take it to an authorized Honda dealer. Improper torque can cause the blades to loosen and be thrown. Always replace both blades as a set.
