First, you need to unplug the unit. You always want to disconnect it from power before cleaning to be safe.
Here's how to access and clean the filter:
- Hold the lower left and right corners of the front cover and pull on both sides with force to release it.
- Pull the cover up and off to remove it.
- Take out the composite filter. For the dust collection filter (the black part), you can vacuum it to remove dust and hair. You can also gently tap it over a trash can.
Important: Do not wash the filter. Do not vacuum the white HEPA part of the filter. Only clean the black pre-filter section. Using water or cleaning agents will damage the filter media.
Once a month, wipe down the machine's exterior and the front cover with a wrung-dry cloth. You can wash the front cover under water, but make sure it's completely dry before putting it back.
Heads up: Replace the entire composite filter every 3 to 6 months, or more often if you use it heavily. The filter replacement indicator light (all four segments lit) will remind you after about 2000 hours of operation.
