Center it in the room or place it near potential pollutant sources, with clearance for airflow.
- Primary rule: Keep it 6-12 inches away from walls, furniture, and curtains. Blocking the air intakes (usually on the sides or back) or the outlet (usually on the top) drastically reduces performance.
- For general cleaning: Place it centrally in the room on a stable surface like a floor or low table.
- For targeting odors or smoke: Place it closer to the source (e.g., near a kitchen doorway, by a litter box), but still with the required clearance.
- Avoid corners and tight spaces. These create dead air zones and restrict intake.
- Place it in the area where you spend the most time for direct benefit.
If that didn't work, and you're still not noticing a difference, the room size may exceed the unit's capacity. The HPA300 is rated for 465 sq ft. For open-concept spaces larger than that, performance will be diminished.
Heads up: Do not place the unit in damp areas like bathrooms or directly next to a humidifier. Moisture can damage the electronics and promote mold growth inside the unit or on the filter.
