DIAGNOSIS Sticky spills are common. Using the wrong cleaner can damage the plastic interior or leave a toxic residue.
FIX Unplug the unit. Use a soft cloth dampened with a mild solution of warm water and dish soap. Wipe down all surfaces. For stuck-on gunk, use a 50/50 mix of white vinegar and water—it's a effective degreaser that's food-safe and won't damage plastics.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK For persistent stains or mildew smells, use a paste of baking soda and water. Apply it, let it sit for 10 minutes, then wipe clean. Baking soda is non-abrasive and deodorizes.
HEADS UP Never pour water or cleaner directly into the fridge or over the door seal. Moisture can run down into the mechanical components at the bottom. Always wring out your cloth thoroughly.
