The LG 43UR7300PSA features a sophisticated 4K LED panel with a specialized anti-glare coating. This layer is chemically sensitive; using harsh household chemicals, abrasive sponges, or excessive pressure can cause permanent "clouding," streaks, or physical scratches that cannot be buffed out. The goal is to remove oils and dust without stripping the chemical treatment or forcing liquid into the bezel where the electronics reside.
How to Fix It
- Power Down: Turn off the TV and unplug it from the wall. A dark screen makes smudges more visible and prevents electrical shorts if moisture is used.
- Dry Dusting: Use a clean, high-density microfiber cloth. Gently wipe the screen in a consistent horizontal or vertical direction. Avoid circular motions, as this can smear oils across the panel.
- Tackling Smudges: If dry wiping fails, lightly dampen a second microfiber cloth with distilled water. Do not use tap water, as minerals can leave white streaks or scratch the surface.
- The "Damp-Dry" Method: Wring the cloth out until it is barely damp to the touch. Wipe the affected area gently, then immediately follow up with the dry microfiber cloth to remove any lingering moisture.
If That Didn't Work
For stubborn organic residue or grease that water cannot move, create a solution of 50% distilled water and 50% white distilled vinegar.
- Apply the solution to the cloth—never directly to the screen.
- Wipe the spot with minimal pressure.
- Immediately dry the area with a clean microfiber cloth to prevent the vinegar from etching the coating.
Heads Up
Never use Windex, glass cleaners, rubbing alcohol, acetone, or paper towels. Paper towels are made of wood pulp and will create microscopic scratches. Most importantly, never spray any liquid directly onto the screen; gravity will pull the fluid into the bottom edge of the panel, which can cause permanent vertical line failures or a complete board short.
