how do i reprogram my genie 550 after i changed the batteries in the remote and now it doesn't work

— asked by Taylor

DIAGNOSIS The remote has lost its pairing to the opener. Changing batteries can sometimes clear the remote's memory on this model.

FIX On the motor unit, locate the square 'Learn' button. Press and release it. The LED will light solid for 30 seconds. Within that time, press and hold the button on your remote until the opener's lights flash or you hear a click. Test the remote. For keyless entry pads, after pressing the 'Learn' button, enter your desired 4-digit PIN on the pad and press 'Enter'.

IF THAT DIDN'T WORK The remote may be on a different frequency band. The Genie 550 uses 315 MHz remotes. Confirm your remote is a compatible Genie 315 MHz model. Older 300 MHz or 390 MHz remotes will not pair.

HEADS UP If you have multiple remotes, you must reprogram each one individually after a system reset. Erasing all codes by holding the 'Learn' button for 10 seconds will require reprogramming every remote and keypad.
