how do i set up a dmz for my gaming pc on my orbi mesh system?

— asked by Cameron

Setting a DMZ forwards all unsolicited inbound traffic to one device, which can help with incompatible games. It's a security risk.

Procedure:

  1. Assign a static IP address to your gaming PC on your local network, or reserve its current IP in the router's LAN settings.
  2. Note that IP address.
  3. Access orbilogin.com. Go to ADVANCED > Setup > WAN Setup.
  4. Check the Default DMZ Server box.
  5. Type the static IP address of your gaming PC.
  6. Click Apply.

IF THAT DIDN'T WORK: The DMZ feature is for inbound traffic only. For outbound connection issues, check the game's requirements. You might need to set up port forwarding/triggering instead, which is more secure than a full DMZ.

HEADS UP: A computer in the DMZ loses most firewall protections and is exposed to exploits from the Internet. Only use this as a last resort for a single device, and ensure that device has robust security software enabled.
