how do you actually clean this thing? the manual just says use vinegar but there's scale in the tiny holes.

DIAGNOSIS Mineral deposits from tap water are clogging the water distribution tray—the part with the tiny holes that drips water onto the freezing plate.

FIX For a deep clean: Unplug, empty water. Remove the ice basket and the plastic water distribution tray (it usually lifts or slides out). Soak the tray in a 50/50 mix of white vinegar and warm water for 20-30 minutes. Use a toothpick or pin to gently clear each hole. Wipe down the freezing plate and interior with a vinegar-dampened cloth. Rinse everything thoroughly before reassembly.

IF THAT DIDN'T WORK For stubborn scale, use a commercial descaling solution made for coffee makers or ice machines, following its dilution instructions. Never use abrasive cleaners or steel wool.

HEADS UP The metal freezing plate is coated. Scratching it with something metal will ruin the non-stick coating and ice will stick forever. Use soft cloths and plastic tools only.
