DIAGNOSIS The Bluetooth module has a limited range and requires a specific pairing sequence. The most common cause is attempting connection from too far away or with the smoker off.
FIX 1. Ensure the smoker is plugged in and the control panel is on (showing temperature or time). 2. Stand within 3-5 feet of the smoker with your mobile device. 3. In the Masterbuilt app, tap "Connect a New Grill" and select "Digital Electric Smoker." Do not use your phone's general Bluetooth settings menu.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK Perform a Bluetooth reset on the smoker. Unplug the smoker from power for 2 full minutes. While it is unplugged, also force-close the Masterbuilt app on your phone. Plug the smoker back in, turn it on, then immediately reopen the app and attempt pairing.
HEADS UP The Bluetooth connection is for monitoring only. It cannot start the smoker. The primary purpose is to receive temperature alerts. The connection will often drop if you move more than 30 feet away, even if initially paired successfully.
