i forgot my netgear orbi admin password, how do i reset it without losing all my settings?

You can't recover a forgotten admin password without a factory reset, which wipes your settings. Sorry.

If you need to reset:

1. Locate the recessed Reset button on the back of the Orbi router, near the power connector.
2. With the router on, use a paperclip to press and hold the Reset button.
3. Keep holding for at least 10 seconds until the Power LED blinks amber. Then release.
4. The router reboots and restores factory defaults. This takes about two minutes.

After the reset:

• The WiFi name and password revert to the ones on the product label.
• The admin password reverts to the one you specified during initial setup, or the default if you never changed it.
• You must set up your Internet connection again.

If that didn't work—like the router doesn't respond—ensure you're holding the button down long enough. A quick press just reboots it; a long press (10+ seconds) is needed for factory reset.

Write your new password down somewhere safe this time.
