Diagnosis
The Presto 01362 pressure cooker is constructed from multiple materials, each with different tolerances for dishwasher heat and detergents. The core question is about which parts can survive the dishwasher cycle without risk of damage, corrosion, or compromised performance.
How to Fix It
You can safely place the following components in your dishwasher: the main stainless steel cooking pot, the stainless steel lid (with the pressure regulator and overpressure plug removed), and the removable silicone gasket (sealing ring). It is best to place the gasket on the top rack. Always wash the lid separately from the pot to prevent scratching. The separate cooking rack is also dishwasher safe.
If That Didn't Work
For a deeper clean or if you prefer hand washing, use warm, soapy water. Pay special attention to the lid's vent pipe, the underside of the pressure regulator, and the gasket groove to remove any food particles. Ensure all parts are completely dry before storage to prevent odors in the gasket and mineral deposits in the valves.
Heads Up
Never put the pressure regulator's weight, the overpressure plug, or the air vent/cover lock in the dishwasher. These contain small internal mechanisms that can be clogged by detergent or damaged by high heat. Always hand wash these small parts.
