just got a brother 1360 all-in-one, can i use it with my windows 11 laptop on arm? do i need special software?

Yeah, this one's common. On Windows 11 Arm64, Brother-supplied printer drivers cannot be installed at all, regardless of settings.

You'll need the Brother Print Support App. It extends the basic Windows driver. Check if your model is supported at https://support.brother.com/g/d/ahs8.

To install:

  1. Make sure printer and laptop are on the same network.
  2. Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
  3. Click 'Add device' and select your printer from the list. The app installs automatically.

If that didn't work, try USB connection. Plugging in the cable triggers automatic installation from the Microsoft Store.

Heads up: Without this app, you're stuck with the Microsoft IPP Class Driver—no paper size selection, no 2-sided printing, no multi-page layouts.
