just got my hue starter kit, the bridge won't connect to my wifi, the third light just keeps blinking forever.

DIAGNOSIS The bridge is in pairing mode but can't find your network. This happens if you're on a 5GHz-only band or have certain router security settings.

FIX

  • First, ensure your phone/tablet is connected to your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. Hue Bridge only works with 2.4GHz.
  • In the Hue app, during setup, when it asks you to press the button on the bridge, use a paperclip to press and hold the button for at least 3 seconds until all three lights illuminate.
  • Keep the bridge close to your router during setup (within 3-5 feet).

IF THAT DIDN'T WORK Temporarily disable your router's "AP Isolation," "Client Isolation," or "WPA3" security (use WPA2). Re-enable it after setup.

HEADS UP The bridge connects directly to your router via the included ethernet cable for normal operation. The Wi-Fi setup step is only for your phone to talk to the bridge initially.
