just installed my aquasana and the water tastes weird, is that normal?

DIAGNOSIS: That's carbon fines from the new filters. You need to flush the system completely.

FIX: Here's exactly what to do.

  1. First, ensure your installation is complete and there are no leaks.
  2. Turn on your dedicated Aquasana faucet.
  3. Let the water run continuously for a full 10 minutes. This flushes out the carbon particles used in manufacturing.

IF THAT DIDN'T WORK: If the odd taste persists after a proper 10-minute flush, double-check that you removed all protective plastic from the filters during installation. Also, verify the filters are the correct color for their housing and are seated properly.

HEADS UP: Do not drink the water during this initial 10-minute flush. After flushing, the water should taste clean. For absolute confirmation the system is working, you can use a water quality test kit.
