Diagnosis: Blade is likely dirty, dull, or binding due to improper setup.
Immediate actions:
- Disconnect battery.
- Inspect blade for gum, wood pitch, or damage. A dirty blade slows the saw and increases kickback potential.
- Check blade sharpness. Unsharpened blades produce excessive friction.
If blade is dirty:
- Remove blade from tool.
- Clean with gum and pitch remover, hot water, or kerosene. Never use gasoline.
- Reinstall securely with correct washers and bolt.
If that didn't work, verify cutting procedure:
- Cutting depth must be set to workpiece thickness. Less than one full tooth should show below workpiece.
- You are not forcing the saw or cutting damp wood, treated lumber, or knotted wood without maintaining smooth advancement.
- You are not cutting into nails. Inspect lumber and remove all nails first.
If noise persists, the motor or gearbox may have an issue. Have the power tool serviced by a qualified repair person.
