mr coffee programmable keeps showing the clock but the brew light is flashing and it won't do anything

The brew basket lid is open or not properly secured. The flashing light is a safety alert.

1. Open and then firmly close the brew basket lid until it clicks into place.
2. Ensure the brew basket itself is fully seated in the machine.
3. Check that the paper filter isn't overfilled, preventing the lid from closing.
4. Press the ON/OFF button to clear the alert and reset the machine.

If that didn't work: The carafe is missing or not positioned correctly on the warming plate.

• Place the empty carafe directly under the brew basket.
• Ensure the carafe lid is off during brewing.
• The machine will not operate if it does not detect the carafe in place.

Heads up: Never attempt to bypass this safety feature by holding the brew basket lid switch manually. It can cause overheating, a burn hazard, and damage the unit.
