The loud rattling or buzzing noise in the Nutrichef 5.8 Quart Air Fryer is typically caused by a mechanical obstruction or imbalance within the high-velocity convection fan assembly located at the top of the heating chamber. Because this model uses a powerful fan to circulate hot air around the transparent fry bowl, even a tiny piece of debris—such as a stray peppercorn, a shard of dried food, or a flake of non-stick coating—can be sucked upward into the fan blades, creating a rapid "clicking" or buzzing sound as the blade strikes the object hundreds of times per minute. Alternatively, the noise may stem from a loose mounting screw or a warped fan blade. If the fan is slightly off-axis, it can create a resonant vibration against the metal housing of the heating element. You can confirm this by shaking the unit gently while it is unplugged; if you hear a metallic "clink" coming from the top interior, something is loose. If the noise only starts after the unit reaches a certain temperature, it is likely thermal expansion causing a blade to rub against the protective shroud.
How to Fix It
- Completely unplug the unit from the wall outlet and allow it to cool for at least 30 minutes to avoid burns from the heating element.
- Remove the transparent fry bowl and the inner basket to expose the interior cavity.
- Place the air fryer on a stable surface and use a high-lumen LED flashlight to inspect the ceiling of the cooking chamber. Look specifically for the circular grill that protects the fan.

If That Didn't Work

- Internal Wire Interference: In rare cases, an internal wire may have shifted and is now touching the rotating fan blade. This requires a full teardown of the chassis to push the wiring harness away from the motor. If you are not experienced with electrical components, this should be handled by a certified technician to avoid voiding the warranty.
- Surface Vibration: Place the air fryer on a silicone heat-resistant mat. If the rattle disappears, the issue is not the fan itself, but a harmonic resonance between the air fryer's feet and your countertop material (common with granite or thin laminate).

- Never use metal utensils to scrape the interior of the heating chamber, as scratching the protective coating can lead to flakes falling into the fan.
