This occurs when the heating element or the internal chamber temperature exceeds the safe operating threshold—typically around 140°F (60°C) during a cooldown phase or significantly higher if the unit has overheated during a previous cycle. The system is designed to prevent the motor from spinning and the heating element from engaging to avoid permanent damage to the heating coil or a potential fire hazard. This state is most common when the unit is used for back-to-back cooking sessions without a cooling interval, or if the air intake vents on the rear of the machine are obstructed, trapping heat inside the chassis. If the light is blinking even when the unit feels cool to the touch, it indicates a "ghost" reading where the thermistor (the temperature-sensing resistor) is sending an incorrect voltage signal to the control board, tricking the machine into thinking it is still in a critical heat state.
How to Fix It
To reset the thermal lockout and clear the 'HOT' warning, follow these precise steps:
