my brother hl-l2350dw printer won't connect to wifi, keeps saying network error. how do i fix this?

— asked by Jason

The most likely cause is an incompatible network setting or driver issue.

Fix:

  • Verify your computer's operating system is supported: Windows 7 SP1, 8, 8.1, 10 (Home, Pro, Education, Enterprise), Windows Server 2008, 2008 R2, 2012, 2012 R2, 2016, or macOS v10.10.5, v10.11.x, v10.12.x.
  • Ensure you are connecting to an 802.11b/g/n wireless network.
  • Download the latest driver from http://support.brother.com/. Do not use generic or Windows-updated drivers.
  • Do not connect the printer to a third-party USB port. Use only the computer's built-in ports.

If that didn't work:

  • Check that your router's security settings (like WPA2) are compatible. The printer may not connect to newer WPA3-only networks.
  • If using a USB connection for setup, ensure the cable is connected directly to a computer port, not a hub.

Heads up: The printer requires 80MB of free disk space for driver installation on both Windows and Mac systems. Insufficient space will cause installation failure.
