my delonghi magnifica s espresso machine keeps flashing the 'empty grounds container' light even though i just emptied it, what gives?

— asked by Jamal

The sensor isn't registering that the container is back in place.

  1. Turn the machine off and unplug it.
  2. Remove the coffee grounds container completely.
  3. Check the container and the slot in the machine for any old, damp coffee grounds or debris. Clean both with a dry cloth.
  4. Reinsert the container, making sure it clicks firmly and fully into its slot.
  5. Plug the machine back in and turn it on.

If that didn't work, the float sensor inside the container cavity might be stuck. With the machine off and unplugged, locate the small plastic float (part number 5313222641). Gently press it up and down a few times to ensure it moves freely, then reinsert the container.

Heads up: Run a rinse cycle after reassembly to clear any potential airlocks in the system.
