Diagnosis
Your EGO LM2135SP is leaving clumps because the mower deck is clogged with wet, dense grass. This prevents the mulching blade from finely cutting and recirculating clippings, causing them to drop in wet piles instead of being dispersed.
How to Fix It
Immediately stop mowing. Tilt the mower back (with the battery removed) to safely clear all compacted grass from the underside of the deck, the discharge chute, and around the blade. Ensure the mulching plug is fully and correctly installed—it should click securely into place with no gaps. For your next mow, wait until the grass is completely dry, typically in the late afternoon after morning dew has evaporated.
If That Didn't Work
If clumping persists with dry grass, adjust your mowing technique and settings:
- Raise the cutting height to 5 or higher. Cutting too much grass length at once overloads the deck.
- Slow your walking pace significantly, especially in thick grass, to give the blade time to mulch thoroughly.
- Inspect the mulching blade. A dull or bent blade will tear grass instead of cutting it cleanly, leading to clumps. Sharpen or replace it if needed.
- Mow more frequently, never removing more than one-third of the grass blade height in a single session.
