In this specific 4-cup model, the most frequent culprit is the internal mechanical failure of the rocker switch. Over time, the internal copper contacts within the switch oxidize or physically warp, creating an open circuit that prevents current from reaching the heating element and the indicator lamp. Alternatively, this model utilizes a thermal fuse designed to trip if the unit overheats (often caused by running the machine without water or a malfunctioning thermostat). If the thermal fuse has blown, the circuit is permanently broken to prevent a fire, which results in the same "dead" behavior as a broken switch. You can confirm if the switch is the issue by using a multimeter to check for continuity across the switch terminals while toggling it; if the reading remains "Open" (OL) regardless of the switch position, the switch is dead. If the switch shows continuity but the unit remains off, the thermal fuse is the likely failure point.
How to Fix It
To restore power to your EHC4128, you will need to bypass the failing rocker switch or replace it. Since these specific switches are often proprietary and difficult to source individually, bypassing them is the most reliable permanent fix.
