Since the clear ice process involves slower freezing and specific water movement, these impurities can become concentrated in the ice cubes. Furthermore, if you have already attempted a cleaning, the taste may be caused by "residue trapping." The Sentern's internal plumbing and the seals around the water reservoir can hold onto small amounts of detergent or vinegar if not rinsed with high-volume water. To confirm the source, fill the reservoir with distilled water; if the taste persists, the issue is the machine's internal surfaces. How to Fix It
To completely neutralize the chemical taste, you must perform a deep-purge cycle using a neutralizing agent. Follow these exact steps:
- Prepare the Neutralizing Solution: Mix 1 tablespoon of aluminum-free baking soda into one gallon of warm (not boiling) distilled water. Stir until completely dissolved. Baking soda is an alkaline agent that neutralizes the acidic residues often left from factory coatings.
