DIAGNOSIS: A new plastic smell is normal during the first few hours of use as manufacturing residues burn off the motor and heating elements. An ozone or persistent chemical smell is not normal for this model, as it uses a physical HEPA filter, not ionization.
FIX: For a new-unit smell, run the purifier on its highest speed in a well-ventilated room (open a window) for 4-6 hours. This should dissipate the odor. Ensure all plastic packaging films are removed from the filter and unit interior.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK: Inspect the filter. A musty or burning-dust smell indicates a dirty filter or debris on the fan motor. Power off, unplug, and remove the filter. Check the cavity for any foreign objects (e.g., plastic, paper). Vacuum the pre-filter screen if present.
HEADS UP: If the burning smell is strong, acrid, and accompanied by smoke, shut off and unplug the unit immediately. Do not use it again. This indicates a serious electrical fault and fire hazard.
