my linksys velop mx5300 light is blinking red, what does that mean and how do i fix it?

— asked by Jamie

The blinking red light means a node is disconnected. This is a status indicator for your network's health.

  1. For a child node (a secondary unit): It's too far from the parent node. Move it closer.
  2. For a parent node (the main unit connected to your modem): It's been unplugged from the modem. Check the ethernet cable connection between your Velop's yellow Internet port and your modem.

Once reconnected, the light should change to solid blue.

If the light stays solid red, there's no internet from your modem. Check your modem's connection and power cycle both devices.
