You must eject it through the app first to avoid data loss. Don't just pull it out.
Here's the safe way:
- Open your Linksys app.
- Go to the External Storage section.
- You'll see which node the drive is connected to and the free space.
- Tap the Eject option for that drive.
- Wait for confirmation that it's safe to remove.
- Now you can physically unplug the USB drive from the node's USB 3.0 port.
Heads up: The USB port is for file sharing only—it doesn't support media servers or FTP. Also, you can set a username and password for the drive in the External Storage section to enable authentication.
