Yeah, this one's common. A solid yellow light on a child node means it has a weak connection to the parent. That specific device is probably connected to that struggling child node.
First, figure out which node your device is connected to. In the Linksys app, go to Devices, tap on the problematic device, and look at its Wi-Fi details. It'll show the node name.
Now, fix that weak link:
- Move the devices closer. Either move the child node nearer to the parent, or move your physical device (like your phone or laptop) closer to the child node it's using.
- Reduce interference. Make sure the node isn't tucked behind a TV, inside a metal cabinet, or right next to a microwave or cordless phone base.
- Run Channel Finder. In the app, go to Advanced Settings and tap Channel Finder. It'll scan and pick the cleanest channel for each node, which can massively improve a weak connection.
If that didn't work, consider a wired connection. If the child node has a free Ethernet port, connect your device directly to it with a cable. No more drops.
Performance depends on a ton of factors—distance, building materials, other wireless traffic. Sometimes the best fix is just adjusting the node's location by a few feet.
