Kickback is caused by blade binding or misuse. Fix your technique and setup first.
- Blade Depth: Adjust so less than a full tooth is visible below the workpiece. A deep blade binds more.
- Work Support: Support large panels on both sides of the cut line. Sagging wood pinches the blade.
- Cutting Technique: Never force the saw. Push forward at a speed where the blade cuts without slowing. Don't twist or overreach.
- If Blade Binds: Immediately release the trigger. Hold the saw motionless in the cut until the blade stops completely. Do not pull it back while moving.
If that didn't work, check the blade and hardware.
- Use only a sharp, clean 165 mm (6-1/2") blade with the correct arbor hole for this saw. Dull or damaged blades cause binding.
- Ensure the blade washers and bolt are the correct ones supplied with the saw and are not damaged. Incorrect hardware makes the blade run eccentrically.
- Tighten the blade depth and bevel adjusting levers securely before each cut. If they shift mid-cut, it causes binding.
Always maintain a firm two-handed grip, with your body to the side of the blade, not in line with it.
