Diagnosis
Your monitor is overheating, which triggers its internal thermal protection and causes it to power off to prevent damage. The heat you feel confirms this is the primary issue.
How to Fix It
Immediately improve ventilation and reduce the operating temperature.
- Unplug the monitor and inspect all ventilation slots, typically on the top, back, and sides of the cabinet. Remove any dust buildup using compressed air or a soft brush.
- Ensure nothing is blocking these vents, including books, papers, or a cluttered desk. Leave at least 2-3 inches of clear space around the entire monitor.
- Relocate the monitor away from direct sunlight, radiators, heating vents, or other electronics like amplifiers or game consoles that exhaust heat.
- Verify the room's ambient temperature is within the monitor's specified operating range of 0°C to 40°C (32°F to 104°F).
If That Didn't Work
If the problem persists after ensuring perfect ventilation, the issue may be internal.
- The internal power supply unit could be failing and generating excessive heat. This requires professional repair.
- Check and firmly reconnect both ends of the video cable (HDMI/DisplayPort) and power cable. A loose connection can sometimes cause intermittent blackouts that feel like overheating.
- Try using a different power outlet and cable to rule out an electrical issue from the wall.
