Diagnosis
A completely black screen with no power indicator light typically points to a lack of power delivery to the monitor. The most common cause is an issue with the physical power connection, either at the wall outlet, the power brick (if present), or the monitor's DC input port. Using an incorrect or faulty power cable can also cause this.
How to Fix It
First, perform a full power cycle to reset the monitor's internal electronics:
- Unplug the power cable from both the wall outlet and the back of the monitor.
- Also disconnect any video cables (HDMI, DisplayPort) from your computer.
- Wait at least 60 seconds (not just 6 seconds) for any residual power to drain.
- Reconnect only the power cable, ensuring it clicks firmly into the monitor's DC-in port. Use only the original Philips power adapter and cable that came with the monitor.
- Plug the power cable into a known-working wall outlet.
- Press the monitor's power button. You should see a power LED light up, even if the screen remains black.
If That Didn't Work
If there is still no sign of life, test the power outlet with another device to confirm it's working. Try a different power cable of the same specification, if you have one, to rule out a faulty cable. Next, check the monitor's input source. Press the joystick or menu button on the back of the monitor to wake it and open the OSD. If an OSD appears, the issue is with the video signal. Ensure your PC is on and that you've reconnected the correct video cable (HDMI is common) securely to both the monitor and your graphics card.
Heads Up
Never force a power connector into the port. If it doesn't fit smoothly, it's the wrong type. Forcing it can permanently damage the internal power board. If the monitor shows no power LED after all these checks, the internal power supply may be faulty, and you should contact Philips support for warranty service.
