my ninja dualbrew pro coffee maker keeps showing CLn on the display, what does that mean?

— asked by Mike

DIAGNOSIS: The "CLn" display indicates heavy calcium scale buildup in the heater of the mode you're currently using.

FIX:

  1. Run a clean cycle immediately on the mode currently displayed.
  2. To clean and descale: Place the empty carafe beneath the brew basket.
  3. Fill the water reservoir to the Travel Mug line (16 oz) with white vinegar, then fill the rest with water up to the Full line. Do not exceed the Full line.
  4. Press the CLEAN button, then press START BREW to begin the cycle.
  5. The cycle takes approximately 75 minutes. Do not remove the carafe during this time.
  6. Upon completion, discard the water, then thoroughly clean the carafe and brew basket.
  7. Run a water-only cycle (Full Carafe Classic for Grounds mode, 12 oz Classic for Pods mode, Full Carafe BOIL for Hot Water mode) to flush the system. Rerun if vinegar taste persists.

IF THAT DIDN'T WORK: If the Intelligent Clean Cycle Indicator is still orange after a recent clean cycle, run another cycle. Heavy scale buildup may require multiple cleaning cycles.

HEADS UP: Hard water causes scale buildup faster. If you primarily use Grounds mode, run the clean cycle on Grounds mode first. If you use Pods most, run it through the installed Ninja Pod Adapter.
