Diagnosis
The blade assembly (or the cup itself) is likely vacuum-sealed or mechanically jammed onto the motor base. This common Nutribullet issue occurs when ingredients create a powerful suction during blending, or when food particles get lodged between the cup threads and the base's silicone gasket, acting like a glue.
How to Fix It
First, ensure the unit is unplugged. Then, follow these steps:
- Grip the cup firmly with one hand and the motor base with the other. Do not hold the blade assembly directly.
- Twist the cup counter-clockwise (lefty-loosey) with steady, firm pressure. A sudden "pop" indicates the vacuum seal has broken.
- If it remains stuck, try running the blender for 2-3 seconds on high. The centrifugal force can sometimes break the seal. Immediately stop and twist counter-clockwise while it's still spinning down.
- As a last resort, place the entire unit in the freezer for 15-20 minutes. The contraction of the plastic can break the bond. Remove and try twisting again.
If That Didn't Work
If the unit is still stuck, inspect the silicone ring (gasket) on the motor base. Food debris may be cementing it. Carefully pick out any visible particles with a toothpick. You can also try applying a few drops of cooking oil around the rim of the cup where it meets the base to lubricate the threads, then attempt to twist it off again.
Heads Up
Never use excessive force or tools like pliers on the plastic cup, as this will crack it. Always twist the cup, not the blade assembly, to avoid damaging the blade unit or cutting yourself.
