Diagnosis
A crooked or misaligned door is usually caused by the hinge brackets loosening over time or the door being slightly mis-seated on its hinge pins. It's a common adjustment on this model.
How to Fix It
Yes, you can adjust it. The fix involves loosening and repositioning the hinge brackets.
- Open the oven door fully.
- Locate the two hinge mounting brackets where they attach to the range body—inside the storage drawer opening at the bottom.
- Using a socket wrench or nut driver, slightly loosen (do not remove) the two bolts on the bracket of the side that is sitting too high or too low.
- Gently lift or lower the door on that side to align it, then re-tighten the bolts firmly while holding the door in the aligned position.
- Close the door and check for even gaps.
If That Didn't Work
If the door is still misaligned after adjusting the brackets, the hinge arms themselves might be bent. Inspect them for damage. A bent hinge arm would require replacement.
Heads Up
The door is heavy. Have a second person help support it while you loosen the bolts to prevent it from falling. Make small adjustments—a quarter-inch movement at the bracket translates to a larger movement at the front of the door.
