The most common cause is a weak or depleted battery. The indicator light will show a specific pattern for this. Connect the USB cable to charge it. Use a single outlet, not a power strip, and ensure the adapter supports 5V DC output.
If it's not the battery, ensure the housing is properly closed. The printer won't operate if the label cassette latch isn't fully snapped shut.
