DIAGNOSIS That's the 'Add Food' prompt. It means the fryer thinks you've pressed 'Start' with an empty basket, or the internal weight sensor isn't registering the basket correctly.
FIX First, take the basket out and put it back in, making sure it's clicked into place. The basket has to be fully seated to trigger the sensor. Then, try again. If it still shows FOOD, press the 'Food' button on the front panel. That should clear the message and let you proceed.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK The issue might be a tiny piece of food or grease interfering with the sensor mechanism where the basket slides in. Unplug the unit, let it cool, and carefully clean the tracks inside the fryer where the basket handle locks in, using a damp cloth or a cotton swab.
HEADS UP This isn't an error, it's a safety feature. Don't try to bypass it by holding the basket in place—you need that sensor to work for even cooking.
